What do we do
WeMeReC provides prescribing information and advice through a variety of printed and online materials and an interactive seminar programme. WeMeReC produces bulletins, some of which are incorporated in distance-learning modules. Each distance-learning module consists of a case study followed by a feedback report of GP responses, a WeMeReC bulletin and a multiple-choice questionnaire.

WeMeReC modules provide education on prescribing through self-assessment. The modules use a case-based approach to consider prescribers' current knowledge and understanding and provide an opportunity for peer review. The distance-learning initiative aims to integrate prescribing guidance into general medical practice and supports the objectives of continuing professional development (CPD) through work-based learning.

The extensive knowledge base of prescribing practice that is derived from the responses to the modules can be utilised in the provision of medical, pharmaceutical and nursing education and supports the clinical governance agenda. Module work can be included in CPD portfolios.

The Centre provides information on selected topics. If you have specific patient-related problems or requests for advice on other topics, please contact your local Medicines Information Centre.
