About us
The Welsh Medicines Resource Centre (WeMeReC) is a source of independent information on prescribing for healthcare professionals working in Wales including general practitioners, community pharmacists, medical and pharmaceutical advisers. WeMeReC promotes effective, safe, appropriate and economical prescribing of medicines. The Centre liaises with many organisations across Wales to address national and local prescribing issues and to extend the learning opportunities it offers to all relevant audiences.

In addition to WeMeReC bulletins, the Centre produces a variety of educational materials to promote informed prescribing. These include distance-learning modules that are developed in collaboration with the Wales College of Medicine. The Centre also provides online interactive educational materials and a seminar-based training programme.

Who are we
WeMeReC is an NHS Wales organisation. Since its inception in 1993, WeMeReC has developed into a service that is unique to Wales. WeMeReC is one of the four organisations that form the Welsh Medicines Partnership (WMP). This partnership was established in response to a recommendation from the National Assembly for Wales Prescribing Task and Finish Group and supports the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) in developing and implementing a prescribing strategy for Wales.

The activities of WeMeReC and the relationship between its work and other prescribing initiatives are guided by a Steering Committee .
